Transcribing our archives

Two of our more interesting possessions, the 1771 Tyne Flood Papers and the 1780-84 Poll Book, are now on our website, and have been transcribed and indexed by volunteers, in a joint venture between the Explore Lifelong Learning programme in Newcastle and the Antiquaries.

We now have a new project to transcribe furrther archives. We have been given a £6,500 Heritage Lottery Fund grant Unlocking the Archives, a project digitising, transcribing and disseminating a number of documents at Woodhorn. Follow this link for the press release and a brief explanation (as a Powerpoint presentation) of what is involved - more details will follow later. If you think you'd like to get involved, send us an e-mail.
