Wilkinson } In the Name of God Amen I Christopher Wilkinson of
Christo } Chappell House in ye County of Northumberland Yeom being weak
in Body but of Sound & perfect memory & remembrance thanks be
given to Almighty God, Doe make and Ordaine this my last Will &
Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) Imprimis
Wheareas I am deeply sensible of the Great Want prejudice and
inconvenience incident to Severall Children of many poor Inhabitants
within ye parish of Allendale by neglect of Due Education partly
entire*
happening by their parents or own Inability to hire School
Masters or pay for their Childrens maintenance and learning
abroad, and being moved with pity and Charitable Affection
to ye Inhabitants of ye said parish of Allendale and in hopes that
others will be induced to follow my example and promote soe
charitable a Work: I Doe therefore hereby cheerfully and
freely Give to John Bacon of Staward in the said County
Esq John Robson of Nine:benks* in ye said County Gent Robert
Peirson of Bishoppfeild Cuthbert White of Allendale Town
And William Wilson of Oake-poole all in the said County Yeomen
or to ye Survivor or Survivors of them & to their Successors
for ever to be limitted and appointed as is hereafter menconed
the Sume of Two Hundred and Fiftye pounds of lawfull money
of England now due and secured to me by ye said Wilson in Trust
to be applyed and appropriated by them or by ye Survivor or
Survivors of them or their said Sucessors to ye Severall uses
intents & purposes and upon ye Several Trusts & confidences
hereafter menconed & in them reposed (viz) To pay out of ye
Interest or other profitt of the said Two Hundred & Fiftye
pounds to my Dear mother Margarett Collison Yearly and every
Year after my Decease the Sume of Three pounds for & during
ye Terme of her naturall life, and to Apply the remainder of ye
profitt or Interest of the abovesaid Two Hundred and Fiftye
pounds together with ye said Annuity of Three pounds a
Year after determinacon of the same to the use advantage
and benefit of a Free Grammar Schoole for ye Education of
Youth, to be sett up and settled in Such proper & convenient
place on the West side of East Allen Water as my Trustees
abovesaid or ye major part of them Shall approve of And
my Will & pleasure is That my said Trustees or so many of
them as Shall be liveing at ye time of my decease or ye Survivor
or Survivors of them or ye major part or number of them
