Page 46, Will, Philip Jefferson, 22 December 1699, p 2; Inventory, 12 February 1699/1700

Land called Lady close to ye use & behoofe of my said wife Barbara
for and so long as She remains my Widdow & continues unmarried &
from and after such time as she shall be married to another Husband
then my will is & I doe give & devise the said Burgage or Thatched
house with ye App unto my said Third sonn Robert Jefferson
for his heires & Assignes for ever And All my Freehold land
called Lady close aforesaid with ye App to descend & come to
my Eldest son Thomas Jefferson his heires & Assignes Item my Will
further is that if my said sonn Thomas Jefferson shall marry
and take a wife during ye Widdowhood of my said wife Barbara
as aforesaid that then my said sonn Thomas shall have and
enjoy one Cowstent* or Beastsgate* Yearly & every year in the
pasture of ye said grounds called Lady close any thing abovesaid
to ye contrary in any wise notwthstanding And my Will further
is that my said wife shall out of ye Rents Issues and profitts of
ye abovemenconed premisses keep & maintaine my said Children in
meat Apparell & learning Item All ye rest of my Goods moveable and
immoveable I give and bequeath unto my said loveing wife
Barbara Jefferson who I Doe hereby nominate & appointe sole execu-
trix of this my last Will & Testament, revokeing and hereby
annulling all former and other Wills & Testaments by me made
either by word or writeing In Witnesse whereof I have
hereunto sett my hand & seale this two & Twentieth Day of
December in ye Eleaventh Year of ye Reigne of our Sovaigne
