In the Name of God Amen the Eight Day of December
1694 According to the Computation of the Church of England I John
Batteson of Woodmas Walls in ye parish of West Allendaile & County
of Northumberland yeom being of perfect memory & Remembrance
Doe make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme
following Vizt first I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty
God my maker hoping yt through ye meritorius Death & passion of Jesus
Christ my only Saviour & Redeemer to Receive Free pardon for my
sinns and to enjoy Everlasting life.
Imps I give unto my Eldest Son William Batteson A Standing Bedd that
stands in ye Loft Item I give unto my son Mathew Batteson a Standing
Bedd that stands in ye nooke in ye forehouse Item I Give unto my
Eldest Daughter Ann wife to John Kinliside the sume of Two
shillings & sixpence all ye Rest of my Goods & Chattells whatsoever
I give to my wife Jane Batteson and Doe Leave her my whole
Executrix and yt yt remains att her Decease if she have anything
to spare that she shall give it to my two Youngest Daughters equally
to be Divided between them, that is Jane Batteson & Frances Batteson
all but ???? only my house that I give to my son William after my wifes
Decease In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand
& seale the Day & Year first above written Signed Sealed and
Delivered in ye psence of us Witnesses Nicholas Lee Wm Wood
