Pilgrim Street Dear Sir, Sandoe 14th Febry 1784
Ncastle I recd yours of the 13th and in Compliance with your
Request will send you one hundred Pounds in the Course of next Week
14th Febry 1784 In a Letter I had from Mr Errington he ordered me to request
Mr Donkins Ltr as to advancing the Return of the Proposal &c which I did in the manner directed,
me 100£ on Acct – and – as supposing it neither of Consequence, nor requiring form making
communicating Mr Erringtons Counsels it necessary to give you the Trouble of it; Mr Errington in his Letter
Opinion that the Magistrates had says, that since the Recpt of the Clerk of the Peace’s Letter, he has
bound themselves by desiring seen his Lawyer, who is of Opinion that the Magistrates, having
Mr Smeaton to make an Estimate so far acquiesced in his Proposal at Michs Sessions as to order a
fresh Estimate to be made by Mr Smeaton, and that Order
having been strictly complied with on his Part, implies an
acceptance on theirs; and that the Court of Chancery
would so interpret it; and therefore is recommended to that
Court for Relief.- But I dare say he knows
not what resolution to come to in his very difficult [and?]
