Remarks & Objections on Behalf Copy of Mr Erringtons petition
of the Justices of the peace for the touching Hexham Bridge Act
County of Northumberland to the referred to a Committee of the
Purport of [&?] Facts stated in the House of Commons

Held by adjournment – vide* Arcles That at a Genl Quarter Sessions etc *Latin, ‘see’
which Mr Errington it is presumed
must produce
A Bond bearing even date with sd[?] That in pursuance of such proposal
Arcles in the penalty of £9100 & Undertaking certain Arcles etc
cond for the true performc of the
Arcles was executed by the sd Mr
Errington
And NB that was not an imaginary
Penalty but a real Sum and
Equivalent recd from the County
Viz £
Bridge as Stated- 5700
Materials belongg to sd} 3000
Co vald at- }
Paid for making sd Road 400
The pen of the Bond 9100
The sd Act recites it would be very That by the sd Act it was declared
benficial and advantageous not only that the sd Bridge when finished shod
to persons residing in & near Hexham be deemed &c
afd but also of very great public
utility if the sd recited Arcles were
established and the sd Bridge built
& Road made-the sd Agreemt is
thereby confirmed
Mr Smeaton tho’ a Gentleman of That pursuant to the sd Act
Character and great Ability in his Directions of the sd Act & the Terms of
profession was Mr Erringtons own the sd Agreemt the Buildg etc
Engineer and paid as such & not by
the Co whose Surveyor gave no
Certificate of Approbation* *form of early Building Regulation approval?
To the Satisfaction of the Justices
who viewed and certified only
