Visit / walk
St James Heritage and Environment Group
Battle of Newburn Memorial, Newburn Riverside Country Park
Description
Our friends in the St James Heritage and Environment Group are kindly running a circular walk for us, looking at the history of Newcastle's Outer West.
We will leave from the Battle of Newburn Memorial in Newburn Riverside Country Park at 11am on Sunday 23 August. Follow this link for information about the Park.
It is an easy walk on flat paths through varied countryside, taking in significant sites in the history of Newburn, Lemington and Bells' Close. This is a five mile circular route, ending at the Riverside Park, but there are opportunities to cut it short along the way. Meet at the Battle of Newburn Memorial, by the river. There is a car park close to the Memorial, and other car parks near by. The nearest bus stop is on Newburn High Street.
Numbers restricted. Booking essential - please reply to the walk organiser's e-mail, for more information or request a place.
