Berwick 23d Decr 1771 Sir Mr. Mayor was favoured with your Letter of the 20th. Inst. On looking into the NewCastle papers We find two Advertisements One from your County and the other from NewCastle, the former respecting Subscriptions for the Sufferers in the County only and the latter not only for NewCastle but for both the Counties of Durham & Northb.land. As it is the Intention of the Mayor and Gent. of this place that the Subscriptions here shod. be for the Sufferers in General You will be pleased to let me know if it was intended by the Meeting at Hexham that the Money shod. be applied for the Relief of the Sufferers in Northumberland only or for both the Counties and NewCastle I am Sir your most obedt.
