Page 17, Will, John Charleton, 11 August 1697; Will, John Cragg, 20 March 1695

In the Name of God Amen I John Charleton of Wall in ye
County of Northumbland Gent being sick in Body but good and
perfect remembrance (thanks be to Almighty God) doe make this
my last Will and Testament in manner & form following. First
I Commend my soul in ye hands of Almighty God : And settle my
Temporall Estate as followeth. It I give and bequeath to my wife
all my goods, & Chattells of what kind soever. The same be and in
whose hands, Custody or possession soever, ye same be in; And I
make my wife sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament,
Revoking all other Wills by me formerly made ; In Witnesse whereof
I have hereunto set my hand & Seale this Eleaventh day of August
Anno Dni 1697 : Sealed Signed Published & Declared to be his last
Will and Testament in ye psence of William Potts Cuthbert

County of Northumberland Cordwainner being sick & week in Body But
of sound & perfect memory (praised be God for it* Doe make this my last
Will & Testament in manner & forme following (yt is to say) First I
Commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hopeing
assuredly through ye meritts Death & passion of Jesus Christ my saviour &
Redeemer to obtaine full pardon & remission of all my sins & to inheritt
eternall life; And my body to ye Earth from whence it came to be buried
in such decent & Christian manner as by my Executrix hereafter named
shall be thought fitt & as for such worldly Estate as it hath pleased
Almighty God to bestow upon me. I Dispose thereof as Followeth Item
I give Demise* & bequeath unto my Two Daughters Margarett Cragg & Elizabeth
Cragg their heires & Ass forever the Moyety* or halfe of all that my Acree
of Arrable Land or meadow ground lyeing & being in ye West Feilds of
Hexham called Hencoates Feilds in A certaine place there called ye Skaites
boundering on the Lands of Thomas Ellwoods on the East ye Skaite Loaning
on the south & the Lands Late Issabel Allgoods Decd on ye West & North To
have and to hold the said halfe Acree of Land unto the sd Margarett Cragg
& Elizabeth Cragg their Heires & Ass forever Provided always & my Will
further is that if my sonn John Cragg Doe pay unto my said Daughters
Margarett & Elizabeth & to either of them the sume of Tenn pounds of lawfull
English money wthn Three months next after they shall attaine ye Ages of
one & Twenty Years or be marryed That then upon paymt of ye sd sumes as
aforesd my sd Daughter shall convey ye sd halfe Acree of Ground unto the sd John
Cragg my sonn his heires & Ass forever ; And my last Will further is yt if either
of my Daughter shall happen to Die before she attaine ye Age of one and
Twenty Years or be married as aforesd yt then ye sd sume of Tenn pounds soe
due to her by this my last Will shall be Due & payable to my other Daughter
surviveing Item my Will further is & I Doe hereby give Devise & bequeath
unto my loveing wife Elizabeth All the sd Acres of Ground lyeing in ye Skaites
aforesd during her naturall life in case my son & Daughters aforemenconed
shall All happen to Dye before they attaine ye Ages of one & Twenty
Years & not otherwise Item I give legate & bequeath unto my sd wife Elizabeth
the sume of Tenn pounds due to me from my Brother in Law John Smith Tanner
And all the rest of my goods & Chattels moveable & immoveable I give & bequeath
unto my wife Elizabeth Cragg who I Doe hereby ? make sole Executrix of this my last
Will & Testament And I Doe hereby revoke All former & other Wills & Testaments
by me made either by Word or writeing In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett
my hand & seale ye Twentieth Day of March Anno regni Willi tertij nunc Rx Ang*
