Atty Genls Idea of half the penalty, was started by
him off hand in Court, & most likely never thought
more of since, but I shd. I think it would be more
adventageous to me than my own offer. the penalty,
when the 400 for the road is deducted, remains at
8700, the half is 4350. the standing work is
estimated at 1800 remains 2550. the remainder of
the Materials are of very considerable value, but
to what amount I know not. Donkin can tell &
if you think it necessary you may send to him
to attend at Sessions. it appears to me this mode
of proceeding has one advantage over that you
mention of desiring them to propose terms, they of
Course will ask conditions more advantage to
