the Building of the Bridge

At the Genl Midsummer Sessions
1782 I was sent for by the Justices to
attend them the Justices (who knew I was Law Agent
to Mr Errington) They told me Mr
Errington had represented to them the
Impracticability of Building rebuilding the Bridge
at Hexham & that he had prayed to
be relieved from his Covenant – That he
was willing to pay any reasonable Sum
of Money that was required to the County,
& the Justices said they thought his
Case a very hard one but they could
not relieve him without the
Aid of parliament and I received
Instructions from the Justices in
Presence of Mr Errington to apply
