Mr Smeaton again –
With the Materials of the Bridge
so beat down what would be the Expence
of rebuilding it?
I cannot pretend to ascertain
the Expence of rebuilding it, but as
an Answer to the Scope of the
Question I can say from the Accounts
I have had of the Situation of the
Bridge & the Materials belonging to
it, that if the County or any other
Person were Desirous of trying another
Experiment there is a more valuable
preparation of Materials than Mr
Errington received from the County
Amongst the Piers which were
injured that Pier appeared to
have the least injury that had
most
been hurt by the Accident during
