extraordinary rapid flood coming
down the River
Mr Donkin – again said –
There was an extraordinary
fall of Snow the Night before
the Bridge was carried away
which lay almost a foot thick
on the even Ground – It began
snowing about 9 o’Clock at Night
& continued on till one in the
Morning when a violent heavy
Rain came on – likewise a
very high Westerly Wind –
the River
When I looked at it in the
Morning I perceived a very
extraordinary flood (the River
runs from West to East)
Perceiving a flood occasioned
my going to look at the
Bridge
