Document 14, Undated minute of Midsummer Sessions 1782, probably by Ralph Heron

18
*Mids Sessn 1782 At Midsumer Sessions 1782. I received a Message desiring
Minutes of what passed me to attend the Justices which I immediately complied with
there -on my entering the Room the Chairman informed me that Mr
Errington (who was present) had represented to them the
Impractibility of rebuilding Hexham Bridge with any Prospect
of his its Standing, and had desired them to relieve him from his
Covenant, that he was willing, if required, to pay any reasonable
Sum to the County – But the Chairman sayed we cannot relieve Mr
Errington without the Aid of Parliament, we think his Case a very
had hard One – and you are to take proper Steps to procure an
Act of Parliament both to relieve Mr Errington & the County from the
Burthen of rebuilding – when the Bill is drawn it is to be settled by
Mr Wallace on Behalf of Mr Errington and by Mr Kenyon on Behalf
of the County
