Apart from the January walk, meeting time for the Country Walks is 10.30 am. Participants should bring stout footwear, warm waterproof clothes, and a packed lunch. No dogs, please.

2nd Jan – 2 p.m   Medics, Cricketers and Tunnels  led by Roger Fern. Meet at Ellison Place, Newcastle, NE1.

14th May  - 10.30  Cold War Northumberland.   RAF Spadeadam.  This was an extremely enjoyable (if rather cold) walk to view the Blue Streak rocket testing sites. Click here to see a contemporary propaganda film about them

19 June – 10.30 Early medieval farming: Stanhope Common led by Louisa Giddens.  Meet by footpath sign (to Steward Shield) on Meadow Edge Road (off B6278), map ref NY 98395 44592. (The best map to use is  OS 307). Look out for Louisa's blue LWB Landrover D158 WPC. 10 July – 10.30  Blawhearie  led by John Sadler.  Steep climbs, bring lunch.   Meet at Old Bewick (NU 067215). Please contact Rosie Serdiville if you can offer/ would like a lift to the meeting point, and/ or transport up the initial steep climb up to Blawhearie

4 Sept  – 10.30  Roman Quarries by Hadrians Wall  led by David Breeze.   Meet at Fallowfield Fell, map ref NY 934 690.   The walk may involve steep climbs and rough paths. Bring sandwiches to picnic at Chesters. Click here for extra details of the day.
